    AIMS

 

The aim of Bachelor in Nursing Science (BNS) program is to prepare professional nurses equipped with knowledge, skills and attitude to provide collaborative and independent quality nursing care in terms of preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative health care service in hospital and community health care settings. Additionally as a members of health team the nurse perform the role of educator, counselor, advisor, supervisor and researcher as well.

 

OUTCOME OF THE COURSE

 After the completion of the programme, the BNS graduate will be able to: 

  • Demonstrate competency in the nursing skills and techniques.
  • Apply knowledge from social and behavioral science, nursing and basic sciences in providing care to the individuals, families and communities in different health care settings.
  • Demonstrate the leadership role in planning and management of nursing services.
  • Develop the teaching and learning knowledge and skills.
  • Conduct small-scale research in different areas of nursing and health.
  • Provide competent holistic care to the physically and mentally challenged clients.
  • Communicate effectively with individual, family, health care professionals applying humanistic approach in various care settings.
  • Apply evidence based nursing knowledge in providing care to the individuals, families and communities.
  • Recognize and manage patients with emergency conditions.
  • Perform competent antenatal, natal and postnatal care based on principles of respectful maternity care.
  • Demonstrate the different types of therapeutic diet required for the various health conditions of the clients.
