Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm)

  • New Semester Starts: -
  • Duration: 4 years
  • University: Pokhara University

Pharmacy is the health profession that links health sciences with chemical sciences to ensure the production of high quality medicines as well as the safe and effective use of medicines.

The scope of pharmacy practice includes not only traditional roles such as compounding and dispensing medications, but also modern services related to health care, including clinical services, reviewing medications for safety and efficacy and providing drug information.

A Bachelor of Pharmacy graduate from a recognized educational institution will be called pharmacist as per the Pharmacy Council Act 2057. Pharmacists are involved in production, storage, supply and dispensing of safe and effective medicines along with monitoring of drug effects. Pharmacists are responsible for providing medication related care for the purpose of achieving specific positive health outcomes that lead to improvement of a patient's quality of life while at the same time avoiding or minimizing adverse drug related effects.

Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) is a four year, eight semester course. The entry requirement for a new student into B. Pharm will be Intermediate in Science (I. Sc.), Higher Secondary Level (10 + 2, Science Stream) or Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL, Science) with more than 50% marks or the equivalent as recognized by Pokhara University. Besides the basic academic requirement, an entrance examination will be held for all applicants.
